Perseus is Flexstar’s latest test software platform. In order to increase power, flexibility, and performance to match the evolving storage technology industry, we have created a new test software architecture with the following major features:
- Adds extensibility to the current test solution.
- Allows adaptation or migration of existing non-Flexstar test solutions to Perseus.
- Supports many interface technologies easily and efficiently.
- Location independence using network connections allows test development/control and data gathering from various PCs within a Company.
- Platform independent design.
- A feature-rich 32 bit Operating System is run at the client side.
The Perseus test software is not only meant to replace Orion test software, it is meant to provide the user with much more capability. More users find the software well-tailored to their needs:
- Product Development enjoys the new interactive shell and the new Trace capabilities.
- Design Verification Test can make extensive use of Vendor Unique commands and new Java Plug-In capabilities. They find the Chamber interface and control simplified.
- On-going Reliability Test groups can easily run extensive test with Chamber Master or Chamber Slave mode combined with easy looping structures.
- Quality Test groups make extensive use of the Begin Performance test and End Performance commands, which allow any command sequences between.
- Production testing can make use of the Serial interface option to the DUT.
The Perseus test software architecture offers better overall performance, more flexibility, features and upward growth paths for support of sophisticated and powerful test sequences and test processes. This is enabled by the support of test case development using the Java programming language. Backward compatibility with the Orion P25/P2E scripting language has been maintained, so that users can immediately use their existing test scripts.
